Advantages: UNDERTAKER V HBK
Disadvantages: THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES
The highlight of the wrestling calendar and celebrating it's 25th anniversary Wrestlemania 25th really fell flat.
The opening match was the Wrestlemania regular Money in the Bank where eight superstars compete for a briefcase hanging above the ring for a chance to get a title shot anytime they want. The competitors included CM Punk, Kane, Finlay, Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Mark Henry and was eventually won by CM Punk, the first man to retain money in the bank briefcase. The match was ordinary.
Kid Rock sangand introduced the battle royal for the title of Miss Wrestlemania. There were a few suprises like Torrie Wilson and Sunny but no Trish Stratus or Lita. The suprise winner was Santina Marella, who was obviously Santino Marella. Santina's victory dance was priceless.
The next match was Chris Jericho versus Roddy Piper, Jimmy Superfly Snuka and Ricky the dragon Steamboat with Ric Flair in their corner. Jericho disposed of Snuka and Piper early, but Steamboat proved he could still go although was still beaten by Jericho. Flair and Mickey Rourke entered the ring afterwards with Rourke giving Jericho a knockout blow.
Matt versus Jeff Hardy in a no disqualification match was up next. Their were some sick moves and an inventive finish with a chair from Matt Hardy to pick up the win. A solid match.
Rey Mysterio versus JBL for the intercontenital finish lasted 15 seconds with Mysterio getting the win. JBL retired afterwards.
Next was the highlight by far of the night. Shawn Michaels versus The Undertaker. Mr Wrestlemania versus the streak. Undertaker beat HBK to retain his undefeated streak at Wrestlemania in one of the greatest wrestling matches of all time. The match lasted 30 minutes and was touch and go throughout. Breathtaking.
They then introduced the hall of famers. Stone Cold got to drive around and salute with beer as a goodbye to the WWE.
Next up was the WWE championship triple threat match between Edge, John Cena and Big Show. This was a lacklustre match and only brighteened up by a great show of strength by Cena to end up victorious.
After the great build up to the World Heavyweight Championship main event between Randy Orton and Triple H the match was ordinary. Triple H won, but for a Wrestlemania main event this was poor.
The extras include a great video package and interviews.
Buy this for the Undertaker versus HBK match for which without this would not be worth getting.
Summary: WRESTLEMANIA 25 NOT SPECIAL
