Advantages: WWF CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Disadvantages: LACK OF ENTHUSIASM FROM CROWD
WWF ROYAL RUMBLE 2000 was a highly entertaining pay per view.
There were many matches including the Royal Rumble match itself which I will provide, but not the results in case you choose to watch for yourself.
INTERCONTINETAL CHAMPIONSHIP - CHRIS JERICHO V CHYNA V BOB HOLLY
Jericho and Chyna were joint holders of the title going into the match. I've no idea why Holly was thrown into the mix. Quite a lacklustre encounter and Jericho needed more enthusiasm from his opponents.
TAG TEAM TABLES MATCH - THE HARDY BOYZ V THE DUDLEYS
The first ever tables match where the winning team had to successfully put both opponents through a table. A really innovative match where both tag teams excelled. The wrestling was good even without the tables. A match to watch too see how good tag wrestling used to be.
TAZZ V KURT ANGLE
Angle invited an open challenge and got the crowd excited when Tazz made his debut in the WWF. A really good wrestling match with lots of mat wrestling and submission holds. Good fast paced match.
WWF CHAMPIONSHIP - TRIPLE H V CACTUS JACK
These two competitors had been feuding for awhile leading to this physical battle. Lots of weapons used and lots of tough shots taken. Quite alot of blood in this match. Brutal, but entertaining.
ROYAL RUMBLE 2000
The winner of this match has to be the last man standing when 30 men have entered after 2 minute intervals and eliminated when thrown over the top rope. The winner gets a title match at Wrestlemania.
Not the greatest rumble with little suprises. Good performances from Kane, The Rock and Big Show. Rikishi also performed well during this contest. Could have done with a few more twists to get the crowd more excited. Nonetheless the crowd were quiet all night that didn't help the matches.
The DVD extras feature exclusive interviews with the participants after the matches including an in depth feature on the injury Triple H suffered after his match with Cactus Jack.
With an 18 viewing certificate and lasting just under three hours the Royal Rumble 2000 is a highly enjoyable pay per view.
Summary: RUMBLE ROCKS!
