Hello, this is Peter Richards bringing you all an 'alternative' review of WWF Royal Rumble 2000, the first PPV of the year and my first ever wrestling PPV and most definitely my favorite. It had everything any wrestling fan would want.

=============================================
First Match: Kurt Angle VS Tazz

Before the matchup took place Kurt Angle came out and cut a great Heel Promo and got great heat from the crowd. Tazz came out next and got a huge pop from his hometown fans.This was Tazz's first match in the WWF and he looked great, this match had some great suplexes from both men. Makes you wander why Tazz isn't being used very much at the moment. Tazz won the match with a Tazzmission.

Winner: Tazz
Match Rating: 9/10
Top Spot: Top rope belly to belly suplex.
=============================================

=============================================
Second Match: The Hardys VS The Dudleys. First ever Tag Team Table Match.

This was my favorite match of the night. It had some excellent spots and all 4 men took some tremendous bumps. Tables, Ladders and Chairs were all used. Looking back at it now, it was very similar to a few ECW matches, I don't really like The Hardys now, but seeing this match shows how much credit they deserve. (Alot!) The ending came when Jeff Hardy gave D-Von Dudley a 'swanton' bomb from the top of a 10 foot balcony through a table!

Winner: The Hardys
Match Rating: 9/10
Top Spot: Jeff's 10 foot Swanton Bomb through a table.
=============================================

=============================================
Third Match: First Ever Miss Rumble Swimsuit Competition. Ivory VS Jackie VS The Kat, VS Terri VS BB.

This is a typical "Sports entertainment" kind of match, and any normal WWF fan would like this. Me I prefer the Wrestling, so this wasn?t my Cup of Tea, a surprise Entrant showed
up and you?ll have to get the tape to see the rest. I'll just say though, this was not for the week at heart. :)

Winner: Mae Young (Yes, it's true!)
Match Rating: 1/10
Top Spot: Nothing spectacular here.
=============================================

=============================================
Forth Match: Hardcore Holly VS Chris Jericho VS Chyna for The Intercontinental Title.

Chris Jericho looked great in this match, Chyna looked her usual crap self, with the non-connecting punches and all. Apart from that it was a great match, with Hardcore Holly and Chris Jericho fortunately carrying most of the match.
The ending came when Chris Jericho gave Chyna a bulldog, then a lionsault.

Winner: Chris Jericho
Match Rating: 6/10
Top Spot: Chris Jericho's Cross Body onto the floor
=============================================

=============================================
Fifth Match: The New Age Outlaws VS The Acolytes for the Tag Team Titles.

Before the match, the Outlaws came out and gave a great promo and got the fans pumped up for the match. Wrestling wise this was great. Nothing two Scientific but generally good all round. The Acolytes dominated most of the Match until a Run-In occurred, a run-in from The X to the P to the U K E. Billy Gunn hit a fame-asser on the fallen Bradhsaw as Road Dogg held Faarooq from coming into the ring.

Winner: The New Age Outlaws.
Match Rating: 7/10
Top Spot: Bradshaw?s clothesline from hell on Billy Gunn.
=============================================

=============================================
Sixth Match: Triple H VS Cactus Jack in a street fight for the WWF Title.

In a word, I would descrive this Incredible, great ring psychology from both and some nice bumps handed out, HHH bladed real nice and put Foley over well. The lead up to this match was great and it lived up to all the hype. One of
my favorite matches ever, for a first ever WWF Title Match, this is as good as it gets. HHH got the win with a 'pedigree' onto thumb tacks! People say that HHH is overrated but matches like these are a great example of why he was the World Champion back then.

Winner: HHH
Match Rating: 10/10
Top Spot: HHH being piledriven through the announcers table.
Overall Rating: 9/10

=============================================
Now the Royal Rumble was next but as there was so much action I'm not even going to try and call it all. But I will say that The Rock won after eliminating The Big Show! Both Kaientai members, Funaki and Taka were eliminated at least 3 times each with Taka landing straight on his face on once occasion. X-Puke was thrown straight over the top rope and landed splat onto the floor, back first! Too Cool and Rikishi (Phatu) gave us a dance show half way through the match and there was a surprise entrant in Bob Backlund.
=============================================

=============================================
Conclusion:

Overall a great PPV with an intense story being told in the main event, some matches which were purely about the wrestling and a video I'm proud to have in my collection.

Pete.

Don't really watch wrestling anymore but the review was class. Wicked idea about how you set it out as well. May well steal that one from you in the future!
