This is the film that made Superheroes cool for me; I love it! It follows a group of X Men, evolved humans with various super-powers, as they battle the evil Magneto and those normal humans set against them. Basically it's a superhero battle film set in modern day, and it's super!

First up, I suppose this is really a film that will appeal to boys, or at least those who love action and violence. There are a lot of set action pieces in the film, and a fair few rippling muscle bound fight scenes. Having said that, it does have a decent plot, and the sci-fi element makes it a real crossover piece with much more appeal than your average Van Damme movie.

There are just a smattering of CGI special effects in the film, and I like that. It hasn't overdone it, but the result of this is that when they use them they are really really cool! Indeed, a lot of the film is set in the normal world with normal people and surroundings, which only adds to the amazement when it all goes a bit crazy.

Best character has to be Wolverine, a role which everyone loves. The archetypal tough boy with a heart makes women swoon all over, and I love the way he's so anti-establishment. Hugh Jackman made his name here and it's easy to see why; all women want him, and all men want to be him!

If you liked it, there are three follow up films, including the new prequel 'Wolverine'.

All in all, a great sci-fi action crossover film.
