Crowned Review X-Men Origins: Wolverine (DVD): Logan's Run is X-cellent (1182 words)

A review of just the film, the region 2 DVD will be released on October 19th. Two young brothers witness the death of their father, realising that they both share unusual 'powers'. It draws them closer, and for the decades that follow they fight side by side in one terrible war after another. Circumstances conspire, and the two brothers find themselves on trial for the murder of a senior officer. Their only hope of salvation comes from a mysterious stranger named Stryker, who enlists the two men in his team of mercenaries. For older brother Victor, it is the dream job, but his younger brother Logan doesn't share his brother's lust for blood and the siblings ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review SNIKT!! (1304 words)

In 1990, my folks let me choose a comic book, one Saturday, to read in the car on the way home from shopping. Chance led me to pick one up because it had four stories, and it featured one story with the Hulk in it. However, the main character was someone I had never heard of: Wolverine. A developing character since his creation in 1974, he soon earned his own comic in 1988, and what I was doing in choosing this was to culminate (so far) last night in taking my wife to the cinema to see the film I've been waiting 19 years for. Of course, I have a stack of Wolverine comics, I have various other Marvel films, and I regularly check the imdb.com listings to see ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review X-Men Origins: Wolverine (DVD): Wolverine wants revenge!!! (628 words)

I wasn't sure what to expect of this as I had enjoyed the X Men films but found them a little too comic bookish-ish. My wife wanted to see it because of Hugh Jackman. The film opens in a by gone era and shows a young Logan and Victor Creed showing more than a little sibling rivalry. Interestingly though they are not aware that they are brothers until Wolverine's real Dad comes in and shoots his assumed Dad. Wolverine then kills his real Dad and the two boys run away as they fear what will happen. Interesting point is that Wolverine's blades are bones at this stage. The opening credits take us through several wars where the two brothers fight ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wolverine - Brutal but not as good as it could have been. (811 words)

**this is a review of the blu ray** I'll be honest from the start. I've always liked X men and Wolverine was my favourite character. I thought Hugh Jackman was an excellent choice to fill the role and so when I heard they were doing this film, I got a little over excited. Alas, it was ruined. It could have been so much better. Now, that's not to say it wasn't a good film, but in true Hollywood style, they made it for the masses, to sell as much as possible, rather than for the hardcore. It would have been much better as an 18 rated film. As would Terminator Salvation. Two good potential films, ruined (or at least, dropped short of greatness). That ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review X-Men Origins: Wolverine (DVD): Wolverine! Or Logan... Or is it James? (1363 words)

Although I've never read the X-Men comic books, I really enjoyed the movies and was really gutted when they made the last of the trilogy. Imagine my glee when I found out that they were releasing X-Men Origins - Wolverine! Wolverine was one of my favourite characters from the X-Men movies, so I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Sadly, I had to wait until the DVD was released but I finally got to see it the other night and I wasn't disappointed! .::What the film is about::. I don't want to go into too much detail, but the film is about Wolverine's origins...funnily enough. It takes you back to when his claws, which were then ...  Read the complete review
