Advantages: great acting great special effects
Disadvantages: watch is and you tell me!
SUCH a good film in everyway!
The film basis's itself around the evolution of the mutant Wolverine. Who, in most cases is the favourite mutant for boys. It starts off obviously at least a century, if not more, ago and is set near the times of the civil wars. For the first 10 minutes or so you see him and his brother as they fight through all of the major wars of the past couple of centuries as well as the World Wars in which America was involved with.
There is obviously a strong relationship and a sense of looking out for the other between the brothers which is tested through-out the film. When Wolverine's kinder nature takes control and his brother's anger and rage encapsulates him, the two brothers split both ways. It is clear that Wolverines brother is unable to live a life without him.
Hugh Jackman plays wolverine and there is no one else who could possibly play it better. Jackman is 6'2" of pure brawn and muscle with gigantic side burns and a powerful jaw line. He is irresistible to women and I think this is a major reason why he is such a success in the roll. Wolverines traits are have three metal claws some from his knuckles and is able to heal exceptional fast. This films explains how he because like this.
His rival and brother, Victor Creed, is played perfectly by Live Schreiber who also has side burn like beard and a brilliantly evil grim through out. The two work perfectly as foes and the film I find is made by the pair.
The reason I like this film so much is due to several reasons. Firstly, it is finally the explanation to how and why the x men in the following 3 films came to meet and why how all their feelings towards everything evolved.
It takes you on a journey into the 'origins' of x men and with that excitement and eager anticipation runs rife through your body!
The acting is really good as well, for such an incredibly unreal and exaggerated idea, and a total comic book and childlike idea, the passion and perseverance of the acting is very impressive. This is probably due to the perfect casting as everyone fits into the role perfectly.
The special effects are some of the best I have ever seen. All the mutant powers look as though they are real, the fire and spikes exerting from a body has a very natural look about it.
I really loved the film and would watch it again and again. The ending is left excellently as you want to see more and more.
I cannot recommend this film any more!
Summary: great movie best out of the 4
