Anyone who enjoyed the original X-Men film, or who read the Marvel Comics version, will have eagerly been awaiting the second instalment in the story. Like the Batman films from years ago, a sequel was inevitable. Anyone who saw Wolverine stealing Cyclops' motorbike at the end of "X-Men" and riding off to see if he can find the answers to his past that his own mind in denying him will be wondering how that turned out. Of course, if you haven?t seen the original film, you won't know what I'm talking about. And that is one of the greatest failings of "X-Men 2" - it struggles to stand alone as a film. As a sequel it works very well ... Read the complete review

I remember watching the first X-Men movie. I saw it the day it opened. It also just so happened that I received my A-level results on the same day. I managed to get an N and a U. My family looked down on me in shame, as if I was different to them, saying I was lazy and couldn't make proper definitions. However I didn’t mind all that much and remained happy. So why am I telling this to you? Well it just so happens that there’s a sequel to X-Men, titled X2, another comic book movie that involves leather. Therefore, it should be good. From the very first moment the film starts, you don't really have time to pause for breath, despite the slower periods which crop up from time to time within the movie. Why? It's the sheer amount of information that's thrown at you right from the very start. Not that this reduced my enjoyment of the movie in any way, but you'd be hard pushed to describe X2 as a brain dead popcorn movie. The Story: From the start, there is an attack on the President of the United States by a mutant who can teleport at will, and a last second attempt by a bodyguard saves the President from an assassination attempt. Magneto is still imprisoned after his ... Read the complete review

X2 is the superhero sequel to X Men and it was released in 2003. This time, the budget was bigger at $110 million but it also made more money worldwide with its earnings standing at over $400 million. It is rated 12A due to violence, action, mild bad language and a slight sexual nature at times. The film is 133 minutes long. Plot Nightcrawler is a mutant who is able to teleport and he tries to use his skills to assassinate the President but he fails. The attempted assassination leads to General Striker saying that all the mutants should be wiped out which peaks the President's interest. While Mystique is still pretending to be Senator Kelly, she hears ... Read the complete review

As always with sequels, a lot depends on your enjoyment of the previous film(s) and it is the same with X-Men 2. If you're a big fan of the X-Men 1, you're sure to enjoy the sequel, X2: X-Men United, because it's another big mix of all the fundamentals that made the original such a blockbuster, done with comparable imagination, high-tech flair and traditional filmmaking style. On the contrary, if you?re not a huge fan of the original then things could prove different. If you're a more casual fan of that film, you may have some problems with X2 because it assumes that you saw X-Men 1 yesterday, and it doesn?t summarise what happened in ...
