Carl is a man who doesn't say "yes" to much. As a result he has managed to be rejected for promotion and has become isolated from friends as he lets them down time after time. Endless DVD nights on his own are commonplace and his life becomes more tragic by the minute. However, a chance meeting with an old friend may well change all that as Carl is about to become the man who likes to say yes! "Yes Man" is massively different from what I was expecting. The concept is almost a verbatim copy of Jim Carrey's previous film "Liar Liar" and I was expecting more of the same. However, refreshingly this is a more subtle affair from ... ~ One Word Can Change Everything ~ Yes Man is the new comedy from star Jim Carrey. It is based on a book by Danny Wallace with the same title as the film. The other day me and my boyfriend decided to go watch a film in our local cinema and decided to watch it. I had seen adverts on the TV about it and it looked really good. After getting the usual mix of sweet and salt popcorn and large Pepsi we made our way to the screen. Yes Man was shown in one of the smallest screens as it was an advanced viewing as the film does not release until Boxing Day on the bigger screens. As being a fan of Jim Carrey I was anxious to see this and see what the film had that were ... Read the complete review

Yes man is a film starring Jim Carrey its very loosely based on a book written by Englsih comedian Danny Wallace, Wallace appears in the bar for the final but one scene drinking and probably considering what a dogs dinner Hollywood had made of his book. The concept What would happen if instead of saying no you said yes to everything!!! In our sarcastic sardonic miserable world where the next big thing is the one you've already missed and are behind the time. So what would happenif you did say yes? In this film, Hollywood of course manage to find a way of writing a romcom. Jim Carrey in a role where he's far too old for, is a bank worker whose life ... Read the complete review

Just as the casting process to play Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland was pretty quick (ring Forest!) it must have been the same here, Jim Carey the only guy for the job. Jack Black was in the running and so we should be happy for small mercies. There are many faces to Jim Carey, some very annoying, some fun, but this is what he does, and often very well. But here its family playful Jim from The Truman Show, none of that silly face pulling Ace Ventura nonsense stuff to irritate. The film is based on the book by the same name of the real life experiences (so he says) of British author Danny Wallace, who briefly cameos here (blink and you ... Read the complete review

After Jim Carrey went down the more serious route with the likes of the excellent Truman Show, the equally excellent Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, and the unequally excellent The Number 23, he now returns back to his comic roots with the Yes Man. This is directed by Peyton Reed who was also the director behind the OK comedy that was The Breakup and Yes Man was released around Xmas time in 2008. Cast ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jim Carrey as Carl Allen Zooey Deschanel as Allison Bradley Cooper as Peter John Michael Higgins as Nick Rhys Darby as Norman Danny Masterson as ... Read the complete review
