Advantages: Super RomCom

Disadvantages: Nothing new

I'm not much of movie buff, but I do like a good romcom. Everyone knows that the best leading man and lady for a romcom is Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, respectively. Sleepless in Seattle was a classic, and the winning combination were at it again in You've Got Mail (plus S I S director Nora Ephron was back on board).

Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) is the owner of a small family run children's book shop, The Shop Around The Corner, battling with the faceless super store book chain Fox Books, run by Joe Fox (Tom Hanks). Her business is rapidly being run into the ground, by the Fox's but Kathleen finds support from an anonymous friend she's made on line and strikes up a cyber relationship with. Naturally the online man she falls in love with is Joe Fox, but neither of them knows the real identity of their online affections.

The two leads play their parts as they always do so well. Hanks lights up every screen he's on in my opinion, with his charm and good humour. Ryan I'm not so keen on, but she does play the role she's given well. The supporting cast also help flesh out the film.

The plot is a modern day fairytale, and an enjoyable one at that.

The film is a PG certificate.
