Zack and Miri have been friends since the first grade. Having no other family, they now live together, yet have never considered getting together as a couple, feeling that it would just be too weird. However, when they struggle to pay their bills and the water and electricity are turned off, they are forced to come up with a solution to their problems. A chance meeting with a gay porn star provides them with this solution - why not make a porn film? Miri is initially unsure, but Zack persuades her by saying that she won't have to have sex with anyone but him. But then, during the course of filming, Miri realises that directing a film has brought out the best in Zack and ... Read the complete review

Zack And Miri Make A Porno, writer / director / cult hero Kevin Smith's latest slackers-with-seriously-dirty-mouths-being-hilarious opus, is an interesting picture for a number of reasons. For one, it's one of the most explicitly (and explicit, as it happens) autobiographical films Smith has made, the film riffing throughout on his own experiences making his classic lo-fi debut Clerks. For another, it marks only the second time he has stepped out of the "View Askewniverse" within which the aforementioned debut was set (the first time being for 2004's sorely underrated Jersey Girl). And also, it marks the inevitable convergence of Smith and the Judd ... Read the complete review

Directed by Kevin Smith and released in November 2008 Zack and Miri Make A Porno was hyped up to be one of the funniest films of 2008. ****Story Line**** Zack Brown (Seth Rogan) and Miri Linky (Elizabeth Banks) are old school friends that now share an apartment. Neither of them has really amounted to anything and they struggle their way through life, both financially and emotionally. Times are particularly hard and Zack and Miri get behind with the bills leading to their water and their electricity being cut. At a school reunion Zack manages to get speaking to a lover of an old school chum, who turns out to be a porn star. The ... Read the complete review

When you're Seth Rogen, and you're celebrating off the back of the success of a number of films you've been in, but you're unsure of which direction to go in as you don't want to give your audience overkill, then what better idea than starring in the latest film from Kevin Smith, Silent Bob himself, director of classic cult films such as Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma. Not too long ago, I watched Pineapple Express, and while I appreciated the ease with which this film could offend, I found it hilarious, so when I spotted the title of this film, and saw the cast and crew involved, I jumped in with both feet, leaving all forms of political correctness at the ... As a big fan of Kevin Smith's films, I had certain expectations before watching this film. I'm glad to say it met and surpassed nearly every one. Let's get one thing clear from the very beginning: this film is not for everyone. People who are prudish, squeamish, find swearing or references to sex offensive or who have watched Smith's previous films and found them distasteful should probably avoid this. While not pornographic in and of itself, 'Zach and Miri' features scenes of simulated graphic sex and one or two scenes that made even me, a seasoned Smith fan, squirm uncomfortably. That aside, anyone of the right mindset should find this film ... Read the complete review
