Over the decades this film has achieved cult status but at the time of release it was universally derided, so is it a misunderstood Sci-fi classic or possibly the worst Sci-fi movie of the 70's. THE STORY In the year 2393 Earth is scary mixed up place. Three kinds of people have evolved, the Brutals little more than savages eking out a meagre existence in the outlands a barren, environmentally scarred landscape with little in the way of resources to live on. Keeping order and the population down in number are the aptly named Exterminators. The outlanders worship a god named ... Read the complete review

I cannot remember exactly the first time I experienced the sublimely odd dystopian vision that is John Boorman's 'Zardoz'. I can pin it to some point in my early to mid teens, when I had so much spare time that not only did I get to watch all of the films that I taped within six months of recording them, I often watched them more than once, and sometimes, indeed, many, many times. I watched Zardoz many, many times. For a long time it was my very favourite film. Set in a post apocalyptic society that has a 'Vortex, around itself to keep the savages and 'Riff Raff' out. It is a utopia society where no one questions "reality" or the authorities and everything just plods on in a melancholy way. Enter Sean Connery, wearing a very dodgy moustache, as a sexist couldn't careless character who turns the colony on its head and soon faces retribution by the authorities. He entered ... When I was about 13, my dad recommended this film to me and my brother. He said he couldn't quite remember what it was about, but remembered loving it when it came out. So, we watched it that night when it was on the TV, and we loved it too! The plot was rubbish, but there was loads of nudity and groping in it - we couldn't believe our luck! Zardoz tells the story of a future where a trained killed (Sean Connery) finds his way into a group of practically zombified immortals who keep the human race alive. In terms of plot, this is a weird film, and certainly when I watched it seemed little more than an excuse for sexual gratuity. There's this one ... Read the complete review
