Excellent for audio, not midi. (Apple Logic Express 8)

Advantages: Streamlined interface, easy audio editing

Disadvantages: Clumsy midi editing

This is better than Cubase. For those have you who have used cubase with it's non-streamlined interface and many annoyance including navigation through tracks and the several thousand bugs it has, this is a godsend but unfortunately only for mac!

The software comes with several plugins, which mean you are basically a fully functioning band out of the box. This includes several reverb and phaser effects etc which sound excellent when applied to the appropriate instrument.

The software also comes with many software instruments, which are not standard MIDI instruments and as such sound excellent to the point you could almost feel you could use them in a real mixdown!

What does annoy me is I find the step editor harder to use than that of cubase, as in cubase it is pretty straightforwards you can quantize, fixed lengths adjust and move the notes easily but I don't feel I can do that with logic which makes me think maybe it is better for audio editing.

Live audio editing is extremely easy as there are smartsnap functions which snap to the appropriate part of the wave in a sound file.

Summary: I would prefer this over cubase for audio editing, but not MIDI.
