Although when i purchased it the price was £799 (i assume the newer addition is the same price) Apple do offer a student discount (which is what i got being a student) which drops the price down to £199. For this price it is easily the best choice....moreMore Apple in Multimedia

Having completing a BA in Creative Music & Technology i have used a lot of audio/MIDI sequencing/editing software in my time. Logic Pro 7.2 is the only software that i have continued to use for audio production, largely due to versatility and the powerful Plug-ins that are standard with the 'Pro' package. This version of Logic is also very stable, having used it for over 3 years now I have never had it crash and lose a project. Although this could be due to the amount of RAM i run on my Mac as well.
