Professional audio and midi sequencing for a decent price (Apple Logic Pro 7.2)

Advantages: Reliable and powerful

Having completing a BA in Creative Music & Technology i have used a lot of audio/MIDI sequencing/editing software in my time. Logic Pro 7.2 is the only software that i have continued to use for audio production, largely due to versatility and the powerful Plug-ins that are standard with the 'Pro' package.

This version of Logic is also very stable, having used it for over 3 years now I have never had it crash and lose a project. Although this could be due to the amount of RAM i run on my Mac as well. Combining this with the array of soft-synths it has to offer it comes as no surprise that it is widely used in the post production industry for both foley and sound design.

Logic Pro also has a couple of 'cute' features that it's rivals don't have, such as the Caps lock Keyboard when you don't have a Midi keyboard handy. Another key feature is the intuitive 'environment' which is very useful and provides a way to control the signal path.

Although when i purchased it the price was £799 (i assume the newer addition is the same price) Apple do offer a student discount (which is what i got being a student) which drops the price down to £199. For this price it is easily the best choice.
