Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Uses lots of memory
iTunes is a program which allows the user to transfer music to an iPod music player. This is advantageous but you do not have to have an iPod to use iTunes, in fact I do not own an iPod yet I use it to listen to music stored on my computer.
iTunes is a great program because you can use it to listen to music, download podcasts, buy music, and watch or download videos. I download weekly podcasts from the internet which iTunes automatically generates! This is very handy, I just turn on iTunes and my podcasts are waiting to be listened to!
iTunes is going to be a very useful tool in the future for sharing music in a home because if connected to a network, it is possible to listen to music stored on the other computers on the network! This is easy to do and very useful, and nice feature.
iTunes has a shop where one can legally download music at a reasonable price. The shop is easy to use and music downloaded is available to play instantly. Also it sells some videos, and has a podcast library!
The downside of iTunes is that it is a big program which uses up lots of memory, and therefore runs very slowly on less powerful computers. On the plus side, if your computer is powerful then iTunes is a great resource to have!
Summary: A great interface through which to listen to music
