Advantages: easy to use, easy to search for songs
Disadvantages: can put music you already have on there without knowing.
When iTunes came out, I have to admit I was a bit put off by it even though I had not used it as I thought I would have to organise my music again. However, I have only used Windows Media Player and I wasn't the biggest fan but after organising my music, I could not be bothered to download ITunes to do it again.
Finally I got an IPod which could only run with iTunes so I had to download it and I loved it. It organised my music and I can view all my music and easily put them in subfolders. It is so easy to use too.
Another good thing about iTunes is that I can listen to my music straight from my IPod instead of having to use my library, this is good for me as I got a new computer that does not have any music on it so I can just plug my IPod in to charge and listen to my music at the same time.
To install iTunes it is easy, just go onto the website (www.apple.com/itunes/download) and click download, after it downloads it goes straight onto installing it and if you are not very good with computers it does it all for you and then it is done.
Also, when there is a new update available, on the strat up screen it tells you, it says that there is a new iTunes out and whether you wish to install it or not, if you do not then you just click no and continue with the one you already to have. It also updates you IPod for you when you click search for updates, this is great as without it I would never remember to update it.
One of the downsides to iTunes is that I keep transfering music onto my IPod that I already have and I do not realise, it is a fault of my own of course but I thought iTunes may pick this up as it is meant to be really clever software. It doesn't really have many features, only Videos, Podcasts, Music, TV and Radio shows, this may sound like a lot but for me, I only listen to music as other take up a lot of space.
All in all though, I would reccomend people to use iTunes as it is easy to use, easy to keep control of your music library and you can also shop for music via iTunes online on the apple store. People who have a lot of music can easily go through and choose the song they want to listen to as with different subheadings you can choose which heading and it goes in alphabetical order. For example, if you click on the heading that says artists, down this list with be all the artists and songs in alphabetical order - this is easier to find a song. Also, you can search for a song in the search bar that you have on your iTunes to listen to.
Summary: iTunes is great for people who are not great with computers.

- 20/05/09 I think iTunes does actually have a good amount of features personally, especially with the shop included. |
