Intro
------
iTunes has pretty much found its way to monopolising the music organisation market on laptop's and computers. It is pretty much the only way to download new music legally, and to organise all your different songs on your pc.
It has easily eluded rivals such as napster and the illegal sites such as Limewire in terms of success and ironically, dominates the market just as microsoft do over apple in terms of actual computers.
Features
-----------
First and foremost, iTunes allows you to get all your songs off CD's and organise them brilliantly on to your laptop, meaning that you always know where to find the music your looking for.
It also allows you to download music off the internet if you have an iTunes account. Although this does cost money, it is relatively cheap, at about 80p per song, meaning that you can get all the latest singles straight on to your computer, legally.
It has also added some brilliant new features in recent weeks. My favourite of these is the genius function. Basically, it allows you to pick a song that you want to listen too, and then finds you a playlist of songs which are very similar to this song in iTunes, meaning you do not have to search through all your music to find what you want to listen too.
For example, when i click 'notion' by Kings of Leon, it returns songs such as
Smile like you mean it
Knocked up
She moves in her own way
Closer
Spiralling
Shine on
Naive and so on.
This is a great feature because it allows you to listen to new music that you would not usually play necessarily.
Summary
-----------
So, in short, the only way to organise your music collection, has to be iTunes. It updates itself, runs quietly and efficiently, and is just a generally good program that i enjoy using.
