zoe_page_1 Austrian Theatre Museum: ... others). Still I have a vested interest in Theatre and will happily go to any performance – ballets, plays, musicals, I’m not fussy. It was for this reason that one Sunday afternoon I ended up at Austria’s Theatre Museum, handily located 10 mins walk from where I was staying. Built for Count Dietrichstein around 1685, the majestic Lobkowitz Palace, which is anything but tatty, has been home to ...

zoe_page_1 Kunsthistorisches Museum
... requirements for Saturday afternoon’s excursion were quite simple. I wanted somewhere within walking distances from my flat since it was a beautiful day, and I wanted somewhere that was air conditioned, or at least nice and cool since as well as being a beautiful day, it was scorching. It was with this in mind that I ended up at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna’s 1st district (aka KHM - KaHaEm – say KayAichEm and people will laugh....). I’d been here before a few times, but this was the first time I really enjoyed it, and the first time I understood quite a bit (thanks to our General Studies Art History lessons). The Works - - - - -...

... °°°°°°°°°°°°° This weekend (or rather the weekend I oringially posted this op) marked what I think was the end of my 20th week in Vienna in the last 10 years (quite a lot for someone who does not live there). This means there is not a lot in the city among the main tourist sites that I haven’t done. Couple this with the fact that this weekend Lou’s friend Scott, a musical expert, also came to visit and you have a great reason as to why we went to the recently opened Haus der Music. Thumbs Up for Hands On °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° One of the best (and busiest) parts of this museum was the interactive hands on bit just as you went in....

Ise-Ise Galerie Belvedere
... days in Vienna. What can you do? Well, the city is brimming with artiness so we deicided the galerie at the Belvedere would be a good idea to start with, actually to finish with too. After that we went home and watched MTV because we were knackered. The gallery can be found in the Obere Belvedere and tickets cost 100 ATS (Austrian Schillings) or 70 if you are a student (make sure you take ID with you). Inside on the first floor a large collection of Klimts, (including one found uncompleted after his death, through which we found out that he used to paint his models nude and then paint the famous patterns over them), a room full of Schieles, a handful of Monets...
