Advantages: Inspiring, Multimedia bring to life, Closest you can come to JFK
Disadvantages: So sad too, A little way out of town
JFK, 35th United States President, changed our world. I feel the world is a worse place without him - whether you agreed with his views or not. The JFK museum is magnificent way to find out if you agree with that or not. I was too young to know much about JFK - I just knew my parents had always been struck by who he was and what he stood for - a feeling that crystallised with his assassination; his death occurring before he had really begun to deliver his vision. Whatever your political viewpoint, creed, race or religion - the JFK Museum (officially titled the "John F. Kennedy Library ") provides a fascinating, rich insight into the public and private life of one of America greatest men. True the museum clearly presents a less than impartial view of JFK - but that bias somehow added to the experience for me - made me feel what it must have been like. You were either with him or against him. The museum offers a chronological walk through the photos, audio, news and TV archives of his life. I thought I would get bored but became ever more entranced by his youth and vigour for what he believed in. The presidential campaign is very well handled and almost comes to life as you are immersed in the archives of broadcast debates. We bought a ticket there that allowed us to see several of Boston's other big attractions and resulted in a discount price. Whether this works for you depends on the time you have there and whether the other attractions interest you. The JFK Museum is in my humble opinion both unmissable and inspiring. The details are: - +++++++++++++ When it is open? ______________ Open 9 AM to 5 PM, every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year?s Day. Where? ______ Columbia Point, Boston (617) 929-4523 How to get there _____________ From Boston is best done on the T (their underground which is truly wonderful
) going to JFK/ UMass Station (Red Line) and then a short shuttle bus ride to the museum itself. If you have a car - then there seemed plenty of parking (good luck with the traffic though). What it costs? ____________ Admission is $6 for adults $4 for seniors and students $2 for children aged 6 to 15 Children under age 6 are admitted free of charge.

- 04/03/03 I like your writing style - clear and to the point. Perhaps lacking in detail though, hence the useful rating. |
