Museums & Art Galleries in Rome in generalNewest Review: ... to in the plural because the different sections are considered separate museums, for example, there is a section devoted to Etruscan life in pre-Roman Rome and the library section, which contains some beautifully ilustrated bibles (surprisingly, huh?!?). Th Vatican Museums are rightly known for being some of the finest museums in the world. I use the plural here intentionally, although in fact, the museums are housing within the same building.. and some building it is! Nestled in the heart of the Vatican City, the museums are located in what was formerly the Papal Palace. The queues themselves are pretty spectacular as well, so an early start is often advised. On both occasions which I visited these museums I arrived quite early and still had to queue for a while (but perhaps the uniquely itallian queuing style added a little more time to the waiting period!).
