After living in London for a few years, I've recently (and thankfully) discovered the British Museum. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of museums in general- I think all of the little trinkets, the eating utensils, the primitive weapons and ancient pottery gets a bit overwhelming at times.

So I was quite surprised that I was actually well impressed by the British Museum. First of all, because the entrance fee is free. You can effectively go there every day for a year and still not see everything that you might like to. I have decided to come here at least once a month and I am sure that in 5 years time, maybe, just maybe, I will have seen all that I would like to see.

There is the usual fanfare that people travel continents to come and see- the Elgin Marbles, the Rosetta Stone, and Cleopatra mummified.

But there are other bits that are equally as worthwhile. A very impressive section on artifacts from Asia, an amazing room full of grandfather clocks (many of which are at least 400 years old and still ticking!), Egyptian rooms that are well regarded as the largest and most comprehensive collection outside Cairo. Too much to name that I haven't yet seen but would recommend that you check it out for yourself.
