Advantages: One of a kind, get a bit of free chocolate

Disadvantages: Slightly boring, overpriced, not enough free chocolate!

Cadbury World is somewhere I have wanted to visit for ages, but for some reason have never been! So I finally managed to sort it out, got myself some Tesco Deals vouchers and headed down to Birmingham. As a huge chocolate fan, I was understandably excited, especially when I saw people exiting with huge Cadburys bags, no doubt stuffed with goodies. I entered the place full of expectation and anticipation....
On entering, you are given 1 curly wurly and 1 bag of buttons per person. Free chocolate, good start!
The tour of the factory is self-guided, although for some parts you can't just whizz through - you have to watch certain shows or go on a ride.
It starts with the history of chocolate, set in an Aztec setting. It's actually quite interesting, and you still have the warm glow from the free chocolate you have just received!
After this, there are various bits to the tour, including displays/shows on how chocolate is made, history of Mr Cadbury, and a ride with the theme of cocoa beans (these are the main bits I remember).
You get to walk through the actual factory where the chocolate is being made, although you can't actually see much. Most of it is blocked off. It's here where you get more free choccy- a bar of Dairy Milk.
So that's about it for the tour. To be honest it was a let down. There was so much potential but it just wasn't met. I was expecting little freebies and tasters from each bit, but the only stuff you get is at the start and in the factory. I don't know if it's health and safety concerns or what, but it's just not as exciting getting wrapped bars that you can buy everywhere anyway!
There's another bit outside where you get some melted chocolate with an extra of your choice (eg jelly beans, marshmallows...) They make you watch another exhibition thing first, but you can tell everyone is just thinking - get me to the chocolate!
Bear in mind, this review is from the point of view of a 28 year old. Obviously young children will still probably find this place amazing and hugely exciting. (Maybe? I dunno!) I found it disappointing, especially as it has so much potential. For the price (£13 for an adult) it is hugely over priced. The gift shop is expensive and there are no great bargains to be had!
Glad I went, but wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend it to others.

Summary: OK, good for kids but a bit of a let down

For £13, I'd want a lot more chocolate than that!
