Advantages: Plenty to learn about

Disadvantages: A bit pricey

I never knew where this place was until I saw an advert on the Tube on day. I decided to check it out last month - hoping that the Winter would keep most people away.

So - I stumped up money and went in. I picked up the kids interactive charts to help me round (it's fun ok!), with matching numbers on the cards and signs around the museum. First up is the trams and horse drawn carriages of old - then through the signs and logos, maps, and paraphernalia of the Tube and Bus systems - then new technology, such as the DLR and the Croydon Tram system - through to the history of the tube. You even get to drive a few tubes through tunnels to stations - all on a computer screen of course!.

The whole thing took us about two hours to get round, and luckily it was very quiet, which gave us time to learn about all the weird and wonderful history on offer.

It all fits on two storeys in a compact museum tucked away in the corner of Covent Garden.

I've never been to the museum, but it has a fantastic gift shop! (That makes me sound kind of ignorant I know, but you can get these fantastic kids' primary-coloured snap-purses there which say 'Tube Fare' on them - really cute. I love all the old posters you can get in there too, some of them are really funny and I've used them as emergency presents countless times!)
