Advantages: Educational, free entry

Disadvantages: I found it really boring, not enough visitor interaction

My husband and myself visited the Captain Cook Museum last year with my then 6 year old daughter. The museum is situated in Stewart Park, and is quite a long walk to get to. The museum itself is very clean and well cared for, and admission is free, which is always a good thing in my book! Outside the museum there are some beautiful totem poles which my daughter and all the other children in the vicinity were fascinated by! There is also a cafe upstairs which sells a good variety of reasonably priced foods. The museum houses various exhibitions, including the permanent Captain Cook one, which we found interesting but I thought was a little bit too complex for my daughter to understand in places. To be honest it could have done with being a little more interactive and child-friendly to hold her (and my!) interest. Although my husband did find all of this information useful and interesting!

I would recommend visiting the Captain Cook Museum if you have an interest in the subject, but I myself won't be going out of my way to return in the future.

Summary: A good couple of hours if you're into this kind of thing, terminally boring if you're not!
