Advantages: hugely interesting
Disadvantages: couple of steps to enter
I was absolutely compelled to write this review I visited Doniford on my £9.50 sun holiday in June 2010 and on our last day before the journey back we thought we would kill a little time in Watchet Harbour. We noticed the Watchet Museum right in the harbour and decided to take a peek.
There is a step at the entrance and the building appears rather small. The admission is free of charge but if you visit there is a donation box on the way out.
right from the moment you enter you are bombarded with amazing eye catching artifacts and information. It is packed with facts and history about Watchet and the events and discoveries made around the local harbour towns and villages. There are pieces of ship, bells, authentic captains hats, fossils among many other items.
Considering my friend and I are 25 year old sun worshippers who usually stroll on by, we were astounding by the depth of the history of Watchet and the quality and quantity of the artifacts and informative details.
for something we thought would take just 5 minutes tops we easily spent half an hour.
I absolutely recommend this Museum.
Summary: well worth it
