Radio in general:
... is something that seems, on one level, to be becoming more and more redundant as technology moves on. However, there is a place for it. To start, the good thing about radio is it is the only way you can hear music for free. If you want to listen to the latest chart hits it will cost you a fortune to buy the CDs, but turn on radio 1 and you can listen to them all day for nothing! Secondly, there are some exell... Regional Radio in general ... went to my mum s for a Sunday roast a little while a go and when I walked in the door I wondered who else she had invited around. It turned out to be a local radio station that has to be the strangest one I have ever heard. A old farmer proceeded to talk about a load of old tat and there were points where you just couldn t understand him because his accent was so strong and this is coming from a full on janner!! It got me thinking about local radio stations and how strange they are to outsiders. First off, the presenters generally come from the local area so they have the local accent which in janner land is very pronounced. Our friends who were from up north couldn t ... Regional Radio in general ... am glad this review topic is on here. I HATE LOCAL RADIO! I honestly believe there is very little more boring than local radio. OK, on the good side they play decent enough music. If you re into chart music there is one local channel that plays that, and for music content it is just as good as Radio 1 and the like. If you like the older stuff there are channels that play that, and once again they are as good as any national channel. BUT there are lots of things I hate about local radio: 1) The presenters - often inbred, local radio presenters are not as likable, quick, witty or intelligent as their national counterparts. They THINK they are, but they re not. In fact, ... Read the full review: A local station for local people... by bruffyboy |

Planet Rock ... ROCK - The UK s Classic Rock Station" as they constantly repeat on the channel, in a gravelly, American hard-rock voice, is a DAB radio station (called PLNTROCK on the radio) playing rock music from about the 1960s-1990. I am not a classic rock fan, but the chefs at the pub where I work are and insist on listening to it, so this is my perspective on the station. *Image* Planet Rock comes across as a station aimed at men: all of the presenters and voice overs I have ever heard are male, they have a sarcastic sense of humour and play, what is usually but not exclusively deemed as "manly", classic rock music. They are also aimed at an older gene... Read the full review: Introduce to classic rock lovers at your peril! by SophieRainbow |
