Advantages: fun
Disadvantages: a bit childish
I used to love Capital FM... maybe it was because I also used to love prancing around my bedroom to Take That and Boyzone but as far as i can see, Capital has changed just as much as me in the past few years, just in the opposite way. I grew up with Capital blasting at me on the coach on they way to school and every weekend and evening but now I can barely last 5 minutes without it driving me mad. I must admit that this probably has a lot to do with the target age group because I clearly remember the Capital extravaganza always being packed full of 10-15 year olds. However, I also feel that Capital has started to lean even more towards it's younger audience, and the percentage of current chart hits as opposed to past hits of the nineties has begun to grow, therefore encouraging listners in a younger age group. Another thing that annoys me about Capital is that Chris Tarrant uses exactly the same phrases when he gives away money on Capital as he does on tele.... aaargh - there is only so much CT you can take. When it comes to the top 40 count down, I will always choose the Pepsi Chart over the Radio 1 broadcast though because it is so much more fun to listen to and it feels like less of a chore for the presenter!

- 23/02/01 Ah yes but those competitions CT runs are soooo good. Mind you having had a week in New York from one and a week in Madrid from another I would say that! Reminds me it's about time I had another free holiday from Mr Tarrant - listen out for me. |
