Advantages: Good selection of music, Great sense of humor and professionalism, Great sound quality and range of programming

Disadvantages: Should be a national radio station.

I listen to the radio alot especially local radio unless I am travelling up and down the country as I do not watch TV. You would expect to hear music a couple of advert and the hourly news, and that is what you get with 106 Centry FM. I have now changed to listening to this radio station as all you hear is music, few adverts and the news on the hour. This is what I call a real radio station?

*106 location and broadcasting area*

106 Century FM have been around for 4 years and have localted centrally in Nottingham on the outskirts of the City. Century Radio have a wide broadcast as they serve Nottingham, Derby, Linconshire, Leicestershire and can be heard further a field. It has been know to be heard in the North East!

*Radio programming*

This radio station listens to its listeners as the breakfast show is unique in music, talk, news and traffic reports from 5.30am.

From 9am, there is the no repeat workday which is no repeat of any song Monday to friday 9 - 5 pm and if they repeat, and you are the first to notice, they give you £1000. At Lunch time, there is a popular lunch time phone in which has all sorts of talking and then back to the no repeat workday. During the day also, there are competitions which can run into a few thousand pounds. Someone today won £3800 approx for guessing a celabraty noise.

When 5 pm is reached, quality music is still played until 6pm when there is a football phone in until 8pm. When the football has finished, there is often prizes and give aways which you have to phone in for then at 8pm there is another phone in which is a bit like Gramham Torantons late night love on Independant Radio Stations but with Century Radio, the situations seem a bit more realistic as discussions can be about anything. Sometimes there are major arguments.

At the weekends, the situation changes. There is a good selection of music with a bit of sport on Saturday afternoon / evenings.

unday luchtimes, there is a 70's and 80's session where only the top music is played and you can phone in for a request to the show. Sunday evening from 7pm sees guess stars come into the show and play their type of music in relation to the radio stations policy. This Sunday evening show is great to listen to.

*Sense of humor*

This radio station also plays jokes on people expesially at the weekend with the Steve Penk wind up show, and during the week with little comic strips. Often peole ask for them to be played again, and due to this, you can purchase tapes and cd's from the radio station.

In the morning, there is a sticker watch. This is quite funny as they have like an actor on acting a real prat of himself.

*Evaluation of this great station*

The overall reliablity and broadcast quality is very good even for those that live out of Nottingham. I have often been able to still hear the station when near Hertfordshire, but that is often crackly.

Another good thing about the Radio station is that the Traffic and Travel reports are announced throughout the day, unlike other stations which only are annouonced during rush hour.

If you ever visit the East Midlands, tune into 106.0 FM and you will know what I am on about as this is probably the best station you will ever hear.
