The Live Lounge has become massive in recent years and they have even released some albums with tracks performed in the Live Lounge. There have been some classic moments in the Live Lounge, some of my favorites were Muse, Biffy Clyro, Coldplay just to name a few. Jo has had ... more

Premium Review Jo Whiley (Radio 1): R.I.P Jo Whiley In The Mornings (492 words)

Well as of today, Jo Whiley's radio one show in the mornings is no more. Fern Cotton has taken over from Jo after a long stint of over 10 years. I have listen to jo Whiley's show for many many years. I wouldn't say she is my favorite DJ on the radio but I do enjoy her show. Show like Chris Moyles and Scott Mills are more about the people and the comedy whereas Jo's show has always been about the music. Jo had several features that were running for years on her show. The most well known as probably the best was the Live Lounge. Basically artists and bands would come in and perform live on her show. They would usually do one of their own songs ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Too much chatter (190 words)

I find a lot of radio DJ's annoying and I'm always searching for a station that does not have any talkative DJ's, I like the ones that just get on and play the damn music rather than boring me with what they got up to the previous night or which rock star they rubbed shoulders with at the weekend. Unfortunately Jo Whiley is pretty bad at this sort of thing, granted she is a local lass made good which is always a nice thing but there is far too much talking on her show. I do like some of the music she plays and if she has a good act in her live lounge set than that certainly helkps the show, the on where she had The Streets performing live was excellent as was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jo Whiley (Radio 1): Love the live lounge (240 words)

The Jo Whiley show on Radio 1 is a bit hit and miss for me, I do occasionally listn to it when not at work and there are bits that I enjoy and some components of the show that I really do not like and annoy me. The show is on weekday mornings straight after the Chris Moyes show finishes and runs until lunchtime. Jo Whiley is a very enthusiastic presenter and certainly has a passion for new music, the main problem is I sometimes find this enthusiasm a bit annoying, I guess it is because sometimes she talks like she is hip and with it yet she is getting on a bit and somehow seems a bit forced. I also do not like it when a new song is played and she ...  Read the complete review

Jo Whiley Radio 1 I wok in a barber shop so we have the radio on every day I start around half 9 every morning and catch the end of Chris Moyle's show but my favourite show starts at 10 and finishes at 12.45 just before my lunch and its Jo Whiley. It's on at a good time because people can catch parts of it in their lunch or morning break. Features on the show The shuffle- everyday around 10.40 Jo has a game called the shuffle this is when there are 7 songs played all mixed up and you have to guess what the 7 artist and songs are I am completely rubbish at this game I can either get the artist or the song but hardly ever get both. The ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jo Whiley (Radio 1): Good in small amuonts (175 words)

I find Jo Whileys show as something that is good to listen to however i find that it is only good in small doses. She does have quite a few decent guests which do lead on to some really good interviews to listen too. She has recently had guests like Billie Piper and Patsy Kensit but i do just feel that after a while of listening it is just boring and i do drift out of it more and more. I do prefer her to the other female DJ's at Radio 1. One of the best aspects i think of Jo Whileys show is the Live Lunges she has. It is always great to hear some live music from artists in my opinion as it does help show how talented some of the artists really are and how ...  Read the complete review
