Advantages: A Great lady

Disadvantages: None Really

Well as of today, Jo Whiley's radio one show in the mornings is no more. Fern Cotton has taken over from Jo after a long stint of over 10 years.

I have listen to jo Whiley's show for many many years. I wouldn't say she is my favorite DJ on the radio but I do enjoy her show. Show like Chris Moyles and Scott Mills are more about the people and the comedy whereas Jo's show has always been about the music.

Jo had several features that were running for years on her show. The most well known as probably the best was the Live Lounge. Basically artists and bands would come in and perform live on her show. They would usually do one of their own songs and then a cover. The Live Lounge has become massive in recent years and they have even released some albums with tracks performed in the Live Lounge.

There have been some classic moments in the Live Lounge, some of my favorites were Muse, Biffy Clyro, Coldplay just to name a few. Jo has had some of the biggest stars in the world perform for her.

She also manages to get other massive stars on her show, from other walks of live besides music. There is a real respect for Jo as a DJ and this comes accross with most of the stars she has in to interview.

Another feature that has been going for a long time is the changing track. Someone writes in a story about how a song changed there life or effected them in some way. Jo tells the story and then plays the song. Sometimes the stories are light hearted and entertaining, other times they are very moving, and when she plays the song it can often be quite emotional.

She also has different experts in during the week. There are people who tell us about entertainment, James King with his movie reviews, a guy who talks about games and gadges, a love expert and a few others.

The music Jo plays is quite varied, but she has a real ear for a good song, and often plays some exceptional music, often before the songs really hit the big time.

Jo is also a keen festival goer. She is often at glastonbury and does her shows from there or does work for TV and helps with the coverage.

Overall would say Jo is a real classy lady. She has been on our radios for many years and I always enjoy listening to her. She is moving to Saturday afternoons now, so she will still be on our radio's but I doubt her show will ever be the same. I just hope Fern can build her show to be half as good as Jo's was.

A great DJ and a great lady!

I'm not a fan of Jo Wiley so I look forward to Fern replacing her.

Like Jo Whiley but also like Ferne Cotton so hopefully she'll match up.
