Well, being an ex-student I should really put my degree to good use. That being "Broadcast Journalism". So over the past couple of weeks I've been on placement at LBC Radio in London - formerly known as the London Broadcasting Company - but perhaps nowadays for it's advertising slogan of "London's Biggest Conversation." LBC 97.3, available on FM is the stations talk format output, and LBC 1152 is available on AM and is the stations dedicated news output...it should be noted the logo at the top of this review is completely out of date. Indeed the world of talk radio and radio phone in is a strange one, and grand-daddy of the British versions is LBC. A mix of news and entertainment programmes LBC can be fun and thought provoking, knowledgable and from time to time banal. The major gripe against LBC has to be the presenters, some of whom miss the point that the vital thing in a talk station are the callers/guests. Some of these presenters are simply too full of their own egos (forgetting their own short-lived careers on daytime television) they come across as bitter old queens whose only skill is putting other people down.
