Magic is magic.
Magic is a London radio station that can be found at 105.4 frequency on FM.
It is classified as an adult contemporary radio station. To me this station is quite easy listening, a bit middle aged with some old time songs but still has all the classics. The classics are great, there is always a song that comes on that you end up singing along too which everyone knows and loves. You do not get too many chart songs that are current but you do get the current songs which are easy to listen to and inoffensive. It is not a bit like Radio 1 which is more for younger people in my opinion.
There are quite a lot of love songs that are played on the station. In fact, on Sunday mornings, I think between 10 to noon there is a show called Love Songs where the DJ will play all romantic songs as well as read out dedications from listeners to their significant others. It's quite sweet to listen to and nice to hear all the love declarations.
Apparently, according to an article I read the station competes with BBC Radio 2 and I can see the similarities. However, Magic has an emphasis on "more music, less talk" which is reflected in the lengthy music sweeps that comprise the majority of its schedule. It's great because you do get a lot of songs all in a row without all the chat which really does get on my nerves and I'm sure everyone else's as well. The DJ's do not really talk about their day or what is happening in the news etc, current events so if you want a radio station with just music on then this is the station for you.
The station runs quite a lot of competitions which are well worth winning. They often have tickets to see artists in concert which is great, recent competitions I can remember have been for Michael Buble tickets and Tina Turner tickets. They also give away quite a bit of money in their competitions too so it's always worth listening for that.
Every hour they do have a news bulletin and they also do give traffic updates even 20 minutes or so. This is very handy because I usually end up listening to magic in my car and so the traffic updates are always welcome.
As well as being carried on FM in London it is simulcast on several DAB mulitplexes, online, and on digital television - Sky, Freeview, Tiscali TV, and Virgin Media so even if you're not in or around London you can still enjoy the Magic!!
