Advantages: No adverts, great banter

Disadvantages: Sometimes more talk than tracks

Radio one? Now that has got to be my favourite radio station - I tend to be a bit of a channel flicker so I switch occasionally to my local radio station. This is just because I like to hear things about my local area but as soon as the adverts kick in I'm back to good old radio 1 who'll never be guilty of boring me with endless ads (Oh yes! that's what I pay my T.V license for!). So I'd say i'm definately more of a radio one girl.

In this review I'm going to do a summary of Chris Moyle's breakfast show and of Scott Mill's drive time - simply because these are the main shows I listen to in my working week (the way there and the way back). I am making the assumption that these are the main, most popular shows for this reason. I'll also put in a brief who's who of some of the main DJ'S and their time slots.

The Breakfast show ~

Ahhh good old Moylesy, and yes I am one of those who finds him funny (I know many find him very irritating). I am often to be caught laughing out loud as I drive myself to work. As the show starts bang on 6.30am and lasts until 10am I pretty much catch it every morning regardless of what shift I'm on. The show is fronted by Chris Moyles, Chris has a few pals with him on these early morning stints, these are; Dominic Bryne (News), Carrie Davis (sport), Aled Jones - who also has his own shows on radio 1, Rachel Jones (of no relation to Aled as far as I know) and of course Comedy dave! This lot have fantastic chemistry together and the banter is just gold. A few things that do annoy me though are the lack of music (although this has gotten better recentely) I have in the past driven the whole journey to work which is between 25 minutes and half an hour and not heard a single track. I suppose they do redeem themselves with the absence of adverts on this one though. The other issue I have is they sometimes do watchable shows and I think because of this they sometimes assume you can see them and do jokes that rely on this. In summary though, Chris Moyles is a comedy genius and I love him for getting me to work every day.

Drive time ~

This is another one which I catch most evenings as I think it goes from 4pm to 7pm, This at the moment has some really funny bits on it - two of my favourites being 'Oh, what's occuring!?' and 'the posh radio four lady' who reads out texts, letters and emails to the show. Doot, Mon. In 'Oh, what's occuring!?' they do things like go to Stupid street - a real street!, and ask people random questions. Or try to guess how many times Sara Cox talks about food in one show or how many times Chris Moyles trys to flirt with a singer from the Saturdays in one interview with her - all very entertaining. I also like 'The Game with no Name' in which Scott gets listener's to text in their favourite song of all time and then plays three at random - I love this because potentially any song could be played - mine would be Kate Bush - This Woman's Work (still waiting for the day when Scott will play it). This show is fronted by Scott Mills who is joined by Mark Chapman (better known as Chapper's), The one who doesn't speak (Who is actually the producer) And Beccy Huxtable who is the assistant producer. As on Chris Moyles' breakfast show these lot have great chemistry and great banter together, their conversations can include anything from Scooby Doo, to Pampous grass!
