Advantages: Some funny radio and decent music

Disadvantages: Annoying presenters

If you live in the UK, as I think most people that use Dooyoo do (that's quite fun to say!) then chances are you will have listened to Radio 1, most likely recently, maybe even today or maybe even as you're reading this. It's everywhere. On a sunny day you will hear it in peoples cars when their windows are down, in shops, a park, everywhere!

From 6.30 in the morning Chris Moyles will greet you. Most people either love him or hate him and there seems to be very few people who fall in between the two. I used to like him more but I think recently he has fallen off from his best work and I wouldn't agree that he is worth the huge salary that he gets. Dominic Byrne on the other hand is worth whatever the BBC pays him. The man makes anything he does worth listening to. Driving along in the morning I couldn't help but laugh at the things he says. The other main member of the Chris Moyles team is Comedy Dave. Again like Chris Moyles he was funnier a few years ago in my opinion. The one thing I will say without doubt in Chris Moyles' favour is that he introduced the world to Longman. A shop owner turned fitness trainer his calls into the show from time to time were some of the funniest moments. I still laugh when thinking that "Mickey Mouse won't let Longman in his house" or Dominic the Donkey!

The middle of the day schedule I'm not too much of a fan of. Jo Wiley and Edith Bowman are the usual presenters for the daytime slots. I can't really say Im a big fan of either. Jo Wiley does tend to focus largely on music, which is no bad thing, but for some reason I still can't find myself 'enjoying' her shows. Edith Bowman I just find annoying now. When she was working with Colin Murray I thought the 2 of them worked brilliantly together and I listened to them most days when possible. Since he left to do his own show, she seems to have just become very moody and if anyone criticises or disagrees with her opinion they are usually met with a grunt and some sort of moody reply. The idea of having a programme that largely features movies is good though.

The drive time presenter is Scott Mills. My favourite presenter on the whole radio. I think he is just brilliant. Every show is hilarious and the ideas they come up with are so funny. Even on the radio they somehow manage to get across to the listener what is happening when they are doing more physical entertainment. Sometimes it can be childish but that is right up my street. The American phone book game especially was genius! Chappers and Becky, and formerly Laura, also add in their pieces to make the show the best on the radio.

The night time presenters vary too each night with the "In New Music We Trust" shows which focus on different genre each day so there's something for everyone. Before these shows is Zane Lowe, who by all accounts, is a highly knowledgeable music lover who provides good music and interviews with the biggest names in music.

I would listen to Radio 1 more than any other station although not necessarily for the presenters. They play all the newer music that is coming out so if it's reasonably popular then it will probably be played. The variety is also a bonus that could get the listener introduced into someone they wouldn't normally listen to. Overall, they do a good job of providing listenable to music but their presenters could easily be upgraded if they tried that little bit more.

Summary: Not bad but could be better

The podcasts are a really handy way of getting the best bits if you don't listen to all the shows.

The repetiveness is ok if you like the music i suppose though!

Thanks for reading
