Advantages: Great mix of entertainment and guests with some charismatic DJs

Disadvantages: Glosses over news and current affairs

I listen to Radio 1 most days. I find that the Chris Moyles Show on my drive to work entertains me and keeps me awake, making me laugh and getting me in a good mood for thw orking day. His team are well constructed and seem to have just as much importance as Moyles himself.

The other DJ I listen to the most is probably Scott Mills. I don't rate hima s highly as most people do, as I think his team don't work quyite as well as that of Moyles. What I do like, however, are his games and quizzes. These are often hilarious, using the general public in surveys, etc.

Other DJs throughout the general working day include Jo Wilery and Edith Bowman. I like both of their shows, and I like that the niche each of them has created for themselves kind of ties in with what daytime TV would be doing, such as phone ins and film reviews and music. Wiley is known as being a bit of a pioneer of new music, and is good at finding new artists and featuring established ones doing covers in her live lounge.

I don't often get a chance to listen to Radio1 in the evenings, but on occasion I have sort of enjoyed shows from DJs suchas Zane Lowes and Westwood, when they're on. I couldn't listen to them for too long, though.

Weekends see Vernon Kay and Sara Cox give a more relaxed and fun attitude to the show's construction, emphasising that it's a weekend and a time to relax and enjoy bed, festivals and going out, or perhaps spending the day with family. Sunday afternoons have the chart show, currenrly with Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates.

There are plenty of other DJs, but these are the ones I manage to catch and remember more than the others. I rate it very highly, but the one thing you don't often get is detailed news analysis, which I fin a bit disappointing. The news os reported, but the emphasis on radio 1 is firmly towards the entertainment side of things. There are often guests on promoting films and music, andthese take precedence over the politicians and representatives that other stations such as Radio 4 or 5 would give us.

Overall, I really like Radio 1. Sure, it doesn't cover everything, but then the BBC target it at a stereotypically younger generation, intending to attract those who want to listen to entertainmet and fun, knowing full well they have other stations which focus on news and poliical debate and current affairs. For me, I flick, as I would do with the TV, but if I need waking up and want to be in a good mood, as opposed to a thoughtful and pensive one, then Radio 1 it often is!

Summary: Radio 1- great for entertainment, not so great for news

I listen to this very station in between Classic FM and some of the Scottish radio stations and I love the music that they play; keeps me in touch with what is going on.

I haven't listened to Radio 1 since I reached my 30s! Good review.

I don't listen to Radio 1 as much as I listen to Radio 2 but I do like Chris Moyles. Vernon Kaye is particularly good in my opinion :-)
