Advantages: great music

Disadvantages: the presenting

Every Saturday from 9pm to 1am, Britain's answer to Eminem (a white boy acting black) hosts a Hip-Hop show. As a fan of hip-hop, I've listened to it occasionally, but I can't easily get past the most annoying man who hosts it.

First up, the music is really good, offering all the top hip-hop joints around for your listening pleasure. There's always some Eminem, but I like the way Westwood pioneers the Brits such as Nolay, Chipmunk and the like. Yes, he plays the US stuff (and so he should), but he keeps it real with some UK underground stuff too, and good on him.

Because it's the main show for Hip Hop in the UK, he does get the big guests when they're in the UK, so if you know someone's in the UK promoting an album, you can pretty much guarrantee he'll have them on.

My favourite parts are the free-styles, which are occasionally weak, but often really good, and can be viewed on Westwood's Youtube channel.

In terms of the presenter, Westwood is a bit of an egomaniac wannabe gangster, who talks the lingo of the black gangsters from the States, but looks more like Basil Fawlty. At the end of the day, you need a big presence for a show like this, but there's something about Westwood that just seems false.

If you check out Youtube, you can see his own version of 'Cribs', where it's painfully apparent he just wants to be 50 Cent!

All in all, this is a good show for the music, but I am more tempted to just download all the latest Hip-Hop albums, as well as those appearing in the charts, and cut out that annoying bloke!

If you want, you can listen to the show at any time on the BBCIplayer, which is ideal because not many of us want to be up at 1am these days do we?

Summary: up to you

I can't stand Tim Westwood but for a girl I can do a pretty mean impression of him!
