Advantages: Provides Hip-Hop., Makes a Mockery of the BBC.
Disadvantages: Most of it., Listening to it.
If Tim Westwood was British he would promote UK Hip-Hop, rather than play US clone Hip-Hop. Every Friday at 11pm and Saturday at 9pm he supplies the UK with US Hip-Hop, surely as the most recognised figure in UK Hip-Hop he should support his fellow brits in their struggle to gain attention whilst not being used by the music companies. If my father was a vicar I wouldn't preach to my country about how good another country's music is and not mention my own. On top of that you don't even get to hear half the song's he plays because anything regarded offensive is edited out. Since US Hip-Hop relies on swearing to rhyme most words and sentences together this leaves a very boring song. I understand that this is due to restrictions the BBC has to abide by, but even so, isn't there an option for those of us who don't find strong language offensive or derogatory? I think Mr Westwood could do a lot for the UK Hip-Hop industry if he played more UK songs, and it would benefit everyone if we had less US Hip-Hop that focused on material wealth or guns and drugs. Sadly, this will probably not come about and we will have to endure the ideas and beliefs of the materialistic US artists.
