I originally tuned into virginradio.co.uk upon receiving a referral from a friend about it, at a time when they were running a competition as part of their launch or re-launch in the summer of 2000. I tried it a few times and then gave up as it kept on stopping to buffer streaming audio, which meant breaks in songs and a generally unsatisfactory experience, with the service seeming to go up and down more often than a yo-yo. So, you’re at work and you’ve managed to successfully make it to your lunch break without loosing too much of your sanity. As ever, lunch is far too short and you have to work hard to make the best of it. Thankfully, you’ve got this fast internet connection on your computer, the network is currently behaving itself and so you fire up your web browser and jump into Dooyoo. Ah, near perfection. I've been listening to the Virgin Radio service over the internet for over a year now, and I glad to be able to report that the initial teething problems I experienced seem to have been ironed out. My main gripe was that as much as I liked the music the station has on its playlist, it was difficult to recommend the service provided wholeheartedly as the connection had proved to be so unreliable. The website has always given you the choice of using RealPlayer or Quicktime software, but these programs do not run properly on my PC at work, thus leaving me with no choice but to use Windows Media Player.
