It is fair to say that Mariah Carey has had her fare share of personal problems since the turn of the new Millenium that has resulted in lesser success with her music and catastrophic film career which has been panned by many a critic especially for her 2001 film Glitter which she accompanyed a soundtrack. Next year she released Charmbracelet which critics panned and said that she had lost her once great vocal ability. Before her career looked to be crashing head on with a barrier she was one of the greatest recording artists of all time and is one of the biggest selling artists in history. Featured On this album are all of her greatest hits up to 1998. They ... Read the complete review

This is in a sense a greatest hits album. However, Mariah (humble as always) didn't think she'd done enough or been going long enough to do a greatest hits album, so in a sense she released an album, for those who don't have her whole collection, so fans can buy a CD of some of her best hits over the 9 year period. Although they were based on the #1's from the US, as she's had about 15 or something, basically every single. The UK album has Without You instead of "I Don't Wanna Cry" as it was #1 here. There's Vision Of Love, Love Takes Time, Someday, Emotions, I'll Be There (live @ MTV Unplugged), Dreamlover, Hero, ... Read the complete review

I bought this album as there was a lot of mariah carey songs I liked but would have had to buy all of her albums. The no1s album is not a greatest hits album but songs that mariah herself thinks should of been no1. Over the years mariah carey has changed a lot and so have her songs before most of them were about been in love or been hurt but now they are different types of emotians such as wanting somebody, believing in yourself. There are still songs about love and been hurt. Some of my favourites on the no1s album are my all, always be my baby, one sweet day,I'll be there, someday and love takes time as I feel I can relate to these songs. On a lot of ... The idea of this album is to show off Mariah Carey’s 12 number 1 singles hence the name #1’s! Mariah makes it clear in the sleeve that “this is not a greatest hits album!” she also says that the album “is a thank you and an acknowledgment of my gratitude to all of you out there for making these records #1 on the charts”. Right, ok, who the heck is she trying to kid? It’s a very easy way to make a hell of a lot of money! But because I love Mariah Carey (not just for her gorgeous looks but also for her amazing singing ability, really, honest!) I think the #1’s album is a superb compilation album; it ... I moved my review on Mariah's "Greatest Hits" to this section because the # Ones album is very similar. This is the second greatest hits package of Mariah's (The first being 1998's "Ones".) If you have the first package, obviously don't bother getting this one! The album goes in order of release, so the older (and better) material comes first. The first disk starts with "Vision Of Love". A soulful ballad which was wisely chosen as Mariah's first single. Other tracks similar to "Vision Of Love" are "Love Takes Time" "I Don't Wanna Cry" and the fabulous ... Read the complete review
