Ever the most interesting band, TOOL made us wait five years after their previous release Lateralus to grace our speakers with new music. I awaited the CD with a certain sense of expectation, though tempered with a feeling of nervousness that the contents would not be to my taste, that I would be disappointed with the results and the wait. So was I slipped the CD into the computer and unfolded the headphones over my ears. Music slipped from the tiny speakers into my ear canals: the clipped sound of Adam Jones' guitar, so distinct and unique flooded my senses. Expectation was about to be filled. For those who have no knowledge of TOOL, ... Read the complete review

With the right Tool... 10000 Days (Cd) I have put forth a real effort in my life to further explore Music in all it's glorious variety. This is a trip I've taken many times in my life, although each trip into Musical discovery has taken a different path. "Metal" isn't a genre I've explored greatly, but I've had my favorites from way back. In 2006, while delving through the library's music catalogs under "Metal", I happened across a band that I had heard of (...vague memories of half-forgotten music...) but never consciously listened to, hmmm... "Tool". I requested their "10,000 Days" CD and thought little more about it, ... Read the complete review

Highlights include the opener "Vicarious" which deals with the sadistic side ... Read the complete review

At various times in history there have been geniuses in the world who have written music. Whether their IQ's were higher or their intellectual capacity and rapid thought process were evolved they have created some of the greatest music of all time. From Beethoven to Mozart or Rush to Pink Floyd every generation has a couple. But in my generation there has been an evolution of music that rapidly progressed in the 80's and 90's and one of those bands has out evolved them all... their name is Tool. Take the creative intelligent writing of Rush, Floyd and Zeppelin and mix it with a man who probably has a higher IQ than 3/4's of the world and a drummer who surpasses Neal Pert ...
