Tube Of The Resinated - Cannabis Corpse ... essentially parodic US metal act side project of guitarist Landphil from celebrated modern American thrash metal band Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse exist to provide a tongue-in-cheek tribute to both high profile US death metal band Cannibal Corpse as well as to Marijuana, with their album and song titles all consisting of inventive and wonderfully silly reinterpretations of classic cannibal corpse song/album titles. Hence, Tomb of the Mutilated becomes Tube of the Resinated , Disposal of the Body becomes Disposal of the Baggy , Experiment in Homicide becomes Experiment in Horticulure , Every Bone Broken becomes Every Bud Smoken and so on and so forth. The June Frost - Mournful Congregation ... their name would suggest, Australian miserablists Mournful Congregation play in the lethargic and moribund funeral doom style, with the tracks on their 2009 release The June Frost consisting of slow, reflective, hypnotic and crushingly heavy riffs, backed up by solid if a little generic sounding guttoral/ethereal vocals in the usual funeral doom style. The song progression is fairly minimal and tends to creep up on the listener insidiously, and the songs merge their despondency with hints of a somewhat romantic influence that recalls a less dynamic and more suppressed Mourning Beloveth in places, but on the whole the album feels sparse, mesmerising and unintrusive... Up To Now - Snow Patrol ... it is coming up to Christmas it is time for all those Greatest Hits albums to hit the shelves! Snow Patrol are one of my favourite bands and this year they seem to have jumped on that bandwagon but they are doing something a little different. Up To Now is not just a typical Greatest Hits album. The album features tracks from Snow Patrol s 15 year music career and it is described as the bands most loved songs rather than just a collection of all the singles that they have released. Greatest Hit albums are usually about one thing, making money. Up To Now is such a nice change! 3 new tracks on there, a couple of covers and some songs by Gary Lightbody s side projects. ...
