The NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC series of compilation albums began being released when I was a teenager, and I never thought they'd still be being released this many years later. The latest one is NOW 48, and is a two CD set featuring many songs which have recently been chart hits. Some of the songs are good, but most of them are pretty crummy. The album starts off well with WHOLE AGAIN by Atomic Kitten. I really like this song – it's catchy, easy to sing along to and has a nice beat to it. According to the sleeve notes the song was at Number 1 for four weeks, and I'm glad, because it deserves to have done so. The second track, PURE & SIMPLE by Hear'say I ...

I bought this CD originally through pure chance as I was going on holiday and wanted to be able to listen to a variety of up-to-date songs. Now my general music interests are anything that's a bit cheesy or in the charts, so I was surprised to find that there were plenty of songs on here that I enjoyed. Normally I find that on a CD which is a collection of hits that the first CD contains well known chart toppers and the second CD contains less well known songs usually of the indie or dance variety. With 'M' this is partly the case and partly not. CD 1 started out with hits such as Uptown Girl - Westlife, Love Don't Cost a Thing - Jennifer Lopez and Independent ...

I may have only bought this CD because I mistook it for another CD that I was planning on buying, but I think it is really good (especially if you buy it in Sainsbury's where they have a special offer on it!). It has a good selection of popular songs on it including westlife, dido and destiny's child on it so there's probably something on there that everyone likes. However, the problem is that, as it does have such a big selection of songs, there are few people who would like most of the songs - I found myself skipping past every other song when I was listening to it because there were some songs that i personally could not stand. Also, the makers seem to have found plenty of ...

Some decent synthpop tunes, quite catchy
Little that really stands out, annoyingly "college indie band" at times
