Kane Brett Robinson, Kano fought his way up through the UK Garage and Grime underground on pirate radio as both a solo MC and as part of the N.A.S.T.Y Crew. Once fully established as a leading light in the scene, he was signed to 679 Recordings and began work on his first full album. Home Sweet Home was released in June 2005 ...

Rating:

Home Sweet Home is the 2005 album from London rapper and one of the UK s brightest young stars Kano (born Kane Brett Robinson), released on 679 Recordings, and with the majority of the tracks being produced by Davinche. When first released the album received rave reviews from many different media sources, including from The Observer and The Independent newspapers, and from Chuck D of Public Enemy, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and the Rza of Wu-Tang among others. The record currently stands at gold status record sales in the UK. As a kid Kano played football for (among others) Chelsea and Norwich youth teams but his interest was always with music. Premium Review LONDON BRIDGE IS FALLING DOWN (758 words)
by nathaninnit - written on 21/03/08 (Very useful, 19 readings)
Rating:

Brett Robinson, returns for his second album and the follow up to 2005 s Home Sweet Home with London Town . Born on the 21st May 1985, Kano is another British star that brought grime to the masses along with Dizzee Rascal, and with that Kano has became the second biggest star for his genre, however being a big star in his specific area has its downfalls as people are more critical of his work and are likely to be more drawn to the independant artists, a tag that Kano can no longer carry with his larger budget. Featuring twelve tracks, it is reasonable to expect that there shall be some standout tracks that just need to be released as singles. So far the only named ...

A couple of big tunes Inconsistent

A couple of tracks are reasonably enjoyable, competent musicianship. The band attempts nothing new here, the music is bland and the vocal tone depressing.

Furiously played (and sung) hardcore punk album Lyrics can get lost due to the frenetic pace of proceedings

A lot of variation with some good tracks Not as good as their 2 earlier EP's in my book

Great songs Nothing

Unparalled lyrics, clever arrangements and lots of barbed comments throughout. Yet to be a household name so no doubt many will simply dismiss her.

Not commercially-centred, so plenty of "music" to listen to - plus a cracking voice Not commercially-centred, so received little airplay outside Ireland
