19 - Adele

When I bought this album I thought she was going to be a bit like Kate Nash, but she is not Adele has her own very unique style, a lot more soul and a bit jazzy at times. Adele has a unique voice as it's unlike most other recording artists, the only person that I think she sounds like is Amy Winehouse and their music style is slightly different. If you have only heard chasing pavements, don't judge the album on that, because she has a better variety of her tracks on here which show cases her abilities. '19' is the debut album by Adele Adkins and went to number 1 in the UK Album Charts upon it's release and has to date sold over 500,000 copies in the UK alone as well as selling over 200,000 copies in Denmark and 600,000 in the US. Having now heard her album, to compare her to Lily Allen is a travesty. Adele is far better, her smooth voice and song writing skill for starters... And whilst we're on the subject of comparisons, there's only one similarity to Amy Winehouse - and that is I love both of their albums, when my expectations were low. Daydreamer: A chilled, melodic start to her debut album, but on first listen you kinda want to skip it to speed up your new listening experience. With Chasing Pavements released last year Adele became an instant success and rightly so. This young British singer has managed to produce a brilliant first album with a mixture of mellow and upbeat tunes. Songs released from the album so far include Chasing Pavements, Cold Shoulder and Hometown Glory. While Chasing Pavements became an obvious success, Hometown Glory was largely overlooked by the general public until it featured on an episode of Skins thus it re-entered the charts. I got this album about a month or so ago and put it in my car to listen too. I normally am into my funky house music and hed kandi but I thought I would get this album because I saw her performing on This Morning and really liked her. Her voice is really unique and has quite a jazz tone to it, as its a very rich sounding voice and not majorly powerful but beautiful to listen to. The album is fantastic. All the songs are quite varied, but very mellow and upbeat.
