Advantages: Strong from top to bottom

Disadvantages: Couple of odd track selections

This lbum, along with 1962-1966 were the first 2 Beatles albums I ever bought. I listened to both constantly for years - when I was younger I preferred the early stuff, then I grew into the more mature later period.

Presented chronologically, starting in 1967 with the Double A-Side of 'Strawberry Fields Forever' & 'Penny Lane', it features a lot of their best material, but as with the Red Album, there are many fine tracks which don't make it onto here.

A couple of the track selections are slightly odd - I don't think 'Old Brown Show' is good enough to get on here - but as a whole it serves as an excellent overview of the Beatles non-touring period.

If you want a full introduction to the band, that digs a lot deeper than the single disc '1', the Blue & Red albums are the place to go, then move onto the individual albums from there..

Summary: Essential introduction to the Beatles
