Finally - Blackstreet

Premium Review Took Your Time (1188 words)
by XICripZ - written on 06/08/09 (Very useful, 40 readings)
Rating:

After a gap of three years, the R&B group Blackstreet were seen to return in 1999 with "Finally" after dropping their classic "Another level" release in 1996. It them, then taking on a line-up with Terry Philips, Mark Middleton, Chauncey Hannibal and Teddy Riley coming with more of their Hip Hop-influenced R&B tunes as they had to keep u with the massive shift in the way R&B had developed since their last release as they tried to catch up. 1. "Can You Feel Me" (Intro) 2. "Girlfriend/Boyfriend" Here you see that they kick right into what was a top single from the album and something which showed that they knew how to ...

Blackstreet - Blackstreet

Premium Review The BLACKstreet Boys (1644 words)
by XICripZ - written on 08/10/08 (Very useful, 201 readings)
Rating:

just doens t stop as you hear them go for yet another lively tune to make you sway alogn to the stern beats. To go alog with this, you have Blackstreet offer some of their well-known voclas whhici make it all come together very incely. You may notice that the lyrics from this were used later on for "No Diggity", their biggest hit ever, and here they come with a tune to express the way they feel towards girls who can show off what they have. Four Stars 6. "Good Life" BLACKstreet get things moving with a feel-good tune for the masses, although this one didn t get released as a single, I can see the potential for this one to have done big things in ...

Crowned Review Some Next Level Tunes (1443 words)

commercial. Four Stars Blackstreet are the only R&B group who I can come to give more than the top rating in stars, and they deserve ten stars in two on this album, so it means that you simply cannot get better than this with some of the tune s on here. On their debut there was one too, and for me there are my favourite ever R&B group as they bring the Hip Hop thing into their work in just the right amount to keep it to where it needs to be, without overwhelming it. This is down to the fact that Teddy is the brains behind it all, and he was one of the pioneers of the first Hip Hop/R&B fusion, New Jack Swing, and so has lots of experience in this ...

Great Voice+Great Songs=Fantastic Album None

A couple of good tunes Poor in comparison to their debut

Disc 1 is a superb testimony to a great voice Disc 2 is patchy with its turf war between dance and r'n'b

Great vocals Only snippets

Voice A couple of Better ballads?

Smooth and soulfull sound, timeless songs. Maybe to dull for the funky RnB lovers.

Fires At Midnight - Blackmore's Night
Clear desire to experiment, and a slightly improved folk-rock angle. Too many songs sounding much too alike.

Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain - Sparklehorse
Gentle, tuneful, experimental, relaxing, thought provoking,Lyrically sophisticated, just brilliant. Mellow album which some may dislike, but I think this is what makes it so poignant.

Book Of Lightning - The Waterboys
joyful, thoughtful addictive!!
