Studio 150 - Paul Weller
by paulie1975 - written on 29/07/09 (Very useful, 16 readings)
Rating:
that experiment worked out this is the CD for you. This CD is an album of eclectic and interesting covers, ranging from Neil Young to Bob Dylan, Weller has chosen an interesting and varied selection with Wishing on a Star and All along the Watchtower being the personal highlights for me as he makes them his own, twists the originals and brings out the passion, belief and musicality of both, although the latter still can t compare to Hendrix seminal version. I loved his version of his own song Broken Stones which is made for a live setting, its thoughtful and lush in its melody and guitars, I also enjoyed the Gil Scott Heron song The Bottle which was interesting ...

Wild Wood Deluxe - Paul Weller
Wild Wood (211 words)by - written on 01/12/00
Rating:
by the responsibility of ever again saying something 'important' about Britain. With this album, Weller has left behind the eighties and the shite that were The Jam and The Style Council and has started to write classics. The title track is one of my favourite songs of the 90s adn was universally liked by everyone. This album is a must have for all fans of Weller, and is a fantastic introduction to his music if you want to give it a try. The only moan about this problem is that at times it makes you want to top yourself, it's so depressing. BUY THIS NOW FOOL! ...

Rating:
Many feel this is Paul Weller's best album, although there are some songs on the album that can quite rightly be said to be some of his greatest. There are some songs that don't really deserve to be on the album. The title track,a very nice acoustic track, that reminds me of a Small Faces song,is widely thought of as Weller's best. And then there is sunflower with it's repeating riff's is quite infectious. The other song that stands out is Hung up,which i feel is without doubt his greatest song. The rest of the album is not bad but it's not great, although peoples opinions of this album are different. This could have been Paul Wellers best album ...

Wake The Dead - Comeback Kid
Loud and Aggressive
Short Album
Skeleton Jar - Youth Group
Amazing sublime band, laid back, mellow tunes
No lyric sheet
Sexotica - Sex Mob
Experimental jazz
Might be too inaccessible for some
Porcelain - Sparta
The bands second album, quite relaxed and chilled out
Quite a bit different to their previous incarnation
Off To Join The World - Blaine Larsen
Country - Contemporary Country - 2005
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - John Williams - Soundtrack
A seminal score for a film whose very resolution is hinged on music
Not as enjoyable as Williams' other major scores for more romantically tinged films
Chariot - Gavin DeGraw
Brilliant album, some great tracks, wonderful backing music, great voice.
Some slightly weak tracks but nothing huge.
Blackout - Dropkick Murphys
A decent blend of Irish Folk/American Punk, Fields Of Athenry
Might not be for the traditional Folk fans
Arrasando - Thalia
Latino Music !
Only 12 songs . . .
All We Know Is Falling - Paramore
The greatest album in a long time
so great the 'very good' songs get overlooked .
