... have recently replaced some of my old vinyl albums with the CD versions, and whilst browsing through my albums I came across U2 - Under A Blood Sky and instantly was transported back to 1983, remembering when I received this album for Christmas with its glowing red cover, and I played it over and over. Overcome - Alexandra Burke ... watch x factor every now and then so was aware that Alexandra Burke was last years winner, and hence would go off to America and produce a big album. The main commercial track was Bad Boys with Flo Rida, but its actually the second track with Neyo that made me check this album out on Spotify. Usually I start of on debut albums with a bit of biography so of course I did my research and checked out a few of her performances on the X Factor. She was easily the strongest singer in the competiton, but I guess thats not hard when the competition was the likes of eoghan quigg.... From Mars To Sirius - Gojira ... third release by French modern extreme metal act Gojira, Mars To Sirius mixes crushingly heavy chugging sections and periods of brutal and mechanical death metal set to booming growled vocals with wide-open and spaced out melodic sections complete with clean singing, this latter musical aspect bringing to mind the output of US cyber-metal band Fear Factory. The production is big and clean yet also very powerful with some great crunchy guitars, and genearlly speaking the album does a great job of merging immensely heavy and catchy riffs with some great melodic sing-along choruses, although it can sound a little bland and unengaging on occasion. Death Magnetic - Metallica ... album is the answer to the prayers of more Metallica fans than I think I would be capable of counting. For years countless Metallica fans, myself included, have dreamed of the days of Master of Puppets, Battery and Fight Fire with Fire and have slowly been loosing hope.
