Supernatural - Santana ... For my second review in my music review instalment I have decided to review one of my favourite albums of the 90 s. Carlos Santana had been an established artist for over 20 years thanks to his unmistakable guitar playing when Supernatural was released in 1999. Although he had huge success in his earlier career nothing would have prepared him for the response to Supernatural. This album has sold well over 25m copies worldwide and won an astonishing eight Grammy Awards. In this review I hope to give my opinion on why this album was just so successful. Sawdust - The Killers ... Killers enjoyed success with their first 2 albums, with Sam s Town being particularly thought-provoking, and so when this was released late in 2007, it was widely anticipated to be the next step up. I hadn t really bothered listening to the whole album until the other day - there is so much new music crossing different genres and making the lines blurred that it is sometimes hard to keep up, and this had just slipped my mind. So, into the player it went, and immediately, I was hit with a sound that I would not have associated with the Killers. Lou Reed guests sings on this first track, Tranquilise . The Colour Of My Love - Celine Dion ... Celine is one of my all time favourite female singers. I rank her alongside Whitney as someone to respect vocally. Granted, she might have quite a long face, but shut your eyes and her voice will take you on a journey. This album has some of her biggest hits on it, I have handpicked a few to talk about. My first choice is Celine s take on The Power Of Love. She manages to do it justice, living up to the class and sophisication of the Jennifer Rush original. Celine really shows off her talents, striving for the high notes and pulling them off with aplomb. I could really feel her emotion in this song. I adore Misled which is a funkier edged number.
