With Love And Squalor - We Are Scientists:
... for £18.67 at amazon?! I m sure my one cost much less... Anyway. With Love and Squalor is the second album of one of my favourite bands, We are Scientist, released in the golden age of Indie bands. To be honest, I can t remember when this was realeased, if there was any hype or build up surrounding it, but if there were, I am pretty confident the album has lived up to expectations. Delhi 6 - A. R. Rahman ... A.R.Rahman means gold! Winner of 2 oscars for his Slumdog Millionaire score, Rahman had 5 releases last year and I have to say that each of those albums were better than Slumdog s score! The lyricist Prasoon Joshi also belongs to the writing team of the film and is able to write the songs from the perspective of the characters. This is extremely helpful since director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra uses songs to take the story forward and makes it an integral part of his storytelling. The album is nothing short of brilliant,be it in terms of variety or quality of songs. You will be astonished by Rahman s diversity here.It starts off with "Masakalli" which has... Red - T'pau ... in 1998, Red was the fourth studio album to come from late eighties rockers, T pau and featured a whole new line-up fronted by original lead singer, Carol Decker. Something of a departure from the T pau sound of old, the album nonetheless contained much influence from the band s original origins whilst managing to bring their music bang up to date.... The album Red begins with the track, With A Little Luck that is not the original version of that DJ Luck and MC Neat garage track from a few years ago, but instead a poppy little number that really gets you going and promises much for what is to come. Six - Mansun ... Boring background ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Born during the Britpop explosion, Mansun were a slightly quirkier and less poppy band than say the likes of Blur, Oasis, Cast, Elastica etc - the true Britpop bands but accentuated that music era with their own unique brand of morose, self deprecating and often sarcastically witty indie rock. Formed in 1995 in Chester by Paul Draper (vocalist/rhythm guitarist) and Stove King (bassist) the band also included Dominic Chad (lead guitarist) and Andie Rathbone (drummer).
